Welcome
Welcome to Aldrich Junior High! These years will be full of challenges for families as your children adjusts to a new school, takes on new responsibilities, and meets many new classmates. As teachers in a junior high school, we are aware that many changes will occur with each student in the next couple of years; some positive and others not as pleasant. We will do our best to guide students to make good decisions. Students need to become responsible but they still need guidance from important adults in their lives. Making schoolwork a priority is important. Some students figure out early on that they earn the grades they receive. Others, unfortunately, do not realize the importance of doing homework, planning for projects, and studying until it is too late. All students have been given an agenda. They will soon become aware that this is their most important possession. At school, they will need this to record assignments, project due dates, and upcoming tests. It also acts as a hall pass when visiting the lavatory, water fountain, or nurse. The agenda should travel with them to home and back to school EVERY DAY. Pages should never be removed! If they lose their agenda, a new one must be purchased ASAP. Another important use of the agenda is for communication between home and school. Teachers write notes to parents in student agendas. Please sign to verify reading any notes in the agenda. Likewise, parents/guardians can also write to teachers. Many times, junior high school students will not share information about assignments at home. Parents/guardians should look in the agenda if a student continually claims to have “no homework”. If a student claims that they did the work at school, ask to see it!! It is better to be proactive than reactive when poor grades show up on the report card! |
